Magaliesburg is recognised as the birthplace of humankind and the area, now known as The Cradle of Humankind, was proclaimed a World Heritage Site in 1999. Sites such as the Sterkfontein Caves have been the source of some of our most important finds relating to early humans. Their stories have been gathered at Maropeng in the Cradle of Humankind.
“More and more I’m seeing that we can look at, wonder about and be inspired by things from many different perspectives.”
Throughout my youth I spent a lot of time outdoors. There was no lying around at home playing computer games or Googling ‘stuff ’ on the internet. The streets where we lived were our playground and our imagination was the key to unlocking the boredom!
I love the outdoors. I love having the opportunity to get into the countryside, enjoying the landscape and the freedom it brings to me. Ultimately influencing what I spend my down time doing. When I turned 40 I discovered the adrenaline of cycling and more recently running. It came as a big suprise to me as I never thought of myself as a sporty person. So now you’ll often find me cycling in my favourite place, the Cradle of Mankind, or treading the paths of the Eagle Canyon Golf Estate…
